Credentials Update

JW Dog Training trainer Kat Heckert earned new credentials to become a Professional Canine Behavior Consultant through the Pet Professional Accreditation Board. This certification requires hundreds of hands-on hours, an extensive knowledge assessment about dog behavior and the science of learning, and case studies reporting challenging behavior cases that Kat has resolved with force free training techniques. Congratulations, Kat!

Expert Additions to the Team

JW Dog Training welcomes two new certified trainers to our team. Samantha Wolfman and Suzanne H. are now seeing private clients.

 

Sam joins us from the animal sheltering world and is well-versed in helping adopted dogs thrive, reactivity & fear, and adolescent behaviors. Suzanne comes with experience teaching group classes and private training. She specializes in puppies and reactivity.

Credentials Update

JW Dog Training trainer Teresa Villatoro has earned two new certifications: Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) and Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). Teresa specializes in reactive and fearful dog training, and helping newly adopted dogs acclimate to their home. Teresa also runs our Cat Behavior Program.

JW Dog Training Wraps Up a Successful 2021

JW Dog Training ends the year with two new trainers to the team, making us a team of six now! Teresa Villatoro and Kat Heckert are two certified, excellent trainers who specialize in reactivity and behavior modification. Learn more about them on our ABOUT page.

We also launched our Cat Behavior Services, bringing new options to cat owners who are struggling with their cat's behavior problems. Learn more on our CAT BEHAVIOR page.

In 2021 JW Dog Training helped over 300 families improve their lives with their dogs (and some cats!). We worked with clients in six different countries across the globe. Collectively, our team earned six new certifications. We are so grateful for all our clients this year, and we're looking forward to helping more people and their pets in 2022!

JW Dog Training's Credentials Update

Head Trainer Juliana Willems has earned her Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) certification through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). This rigorous open-ended exam asked for 500 hours of consulting experience with aggression and reactivity cases before applying, and tested the subjects of dog behavior, learning theory, behavior science, how to treat aggression, and more.

Trainer Kayleigh Sullivan has earned her Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) certification through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). This test required 300 hours of hands-on training, and tested on the science of learning, instruction skills, canine husbandry and ethology, and more.

In this two hour webinar, "The Dark Side of Being Social: Preventing Reactivity in Overly Social Dogs," Juliana discusses how friendly dogs can sometimes become reactive. She goes over why this can happen and how to prevent it.

JW Dog Training's Owner & Head Trainer Juliana Willems Announced as Karen Pryor Academy Faculty

Juliana is honored to have been selected as one of five new faculty members joining the Karen Pryor Academy in 2021. 

The Karen Pryor Academy is a prestigious worldwide training school that teaches and certifies students in advanced positive reinforcement training. Juliana will be teaching the Dog Trainer Professional program.
